About tree planting

Most young trees that fail were planted too deep, too close to a structure, or were never suited to the site in the first place. Planting well means matching species to soil, exposure, and the space the crown will eventually need. Those decisions cost nothing at planting and cannot be undone later.

You probably need this if

  • You are replacing a tree that has just come out
  • You want screening or a windbreak and are not sure what suits the ground
  • Previous plantings on the property have died back within a few years
  • You are planting near a building, a septic bed, or a service line
  • You have stock ready and want it in the ground properly

Worth knowing before you book

Planted too deep is the commonest way a young tree dies

The root flare, where the trunk widens at the base, belongs at or just above ground level. Buried, it stays wet, the bark breaks down, and the tree declines slowly enough that nobody connects it to the day it went in.

Right tree, right place is decided before you buy

Mature spread, how close it is to a foundation or a line, how wet that corner gets in spring: all of it is cheap to get right at the start and expensive to fix at twenty years. Ask before you buy the stock, not after.

The first two summers decide it

A new tree needs deep, infrequent watering rather than a daily splash, through its first two growing seasons. Most of what looks like a bad tree is a dry one.

What does tree planting cost?
We quote on site, and the quote is free. Planting is priced by the size of what is going in and by what the ground needs first. Tell us at the quote whether you already have the stock, since that changes the number.
Is Canopy Tree Care insured?
Yes. Canopy Tree Care is fully insured. Ask for the certificate before work starts and we will send it. On any job involving climbing, rigging, or a drop zone near a building, you should be asking every contractor for it.
How do I get a quote?
Call (519) 614-2719 or send a message, and we will come and look at the tree. There is no charge for the visit and no obligation after it.
What area do you cover?
Huron County and surrounding areas. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call (519) 614-2719 and ask. It is a short conversation and it saves you booking someone further away.
When can I reach you?
Monday – Saturday 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Sunday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Call (519) 614-2719. If a tree is down on a building or a power line outside those hours, contact your utility or emergency services first. That is not a call to wait on us for.
